Sittella Surprise

G’day All,
The robins on the golf course are becoming tamer as each day passes. Yesterday they were catching their breakfast within just a few metres of me as I sat quietly on my usual log. I’m becoming more and more convinced that they are as interested in me as I am of them.

As we uttered comforting words to one another – I like to think - we were rudely interrupted by a small flock of Sittellas. They just breezed in and scurried down the trunks and branches of the nearby trees, probing constantly under the bark for some small morsel.

As usual they didn’t stay long. I just managed a couple of quick shots of a couple that sat still long enough for the camera to focus, then they were gone as quickly as they arrived. I did a bit of quick in-camera editing, (deleted all the shots of vacant twigs, a blur of wings or a pair of feet rapidly exiting the frame), and headed for the machinery shed.

Just love starting the day like that!
Regards,
Gouldiae.

  1. Birds that get to know you are great, Mum's scrub wrens follow her around the garden and sit on her feet while she works there.

I've been enjoying your robins, we have yellow ones at home which are nice but I've a bit of a soft spot for the red ones.

In other news we are flying to Port Macquarie tomorrow morning (4:20 am train from Belgrave...) to pick up a Landcruiser Troopcarrier that we are turning in to a camper for our trip this year, we my see you at Gluepot but we are also thinking of possibly going a bit farther afield, Sturt National Park on the SA/NSW/Qld border or Gammon Ranges in SA...

Hope you are doing well down there and looking forward to your mallee pilgrimage.

    1. Ah, we're going between the 30th of September and the 11th of October. Oh well.

There wont be any nice pictures like ours but we'll take a few of the scenery and such.

Once the weather gets a bit nicer we're planing on heading down your way for a bit of an explore though so we might be able to catch up then.
