A Study In Heron

G'day Blog Followers,
Yesterday I managed to squeeze in a brief visit to the local wetlands, just before an appointment in town. There wasn't a lot about. Chestnut and Grey Teal, Coots, Swamphens etc of course, and, I managed some beaut shots of empty tree branches, nice and sharply in focus, where just several milliseconds before a Weebill had been sitting. One day!

This White-faced Heron was fairly accommodating though.

Regards,
Gouldiae.

  1. Very nice! I always have a chuckle when I see big birds like the heron scratching their neck as in your 4th photo.

  2. :) Love the sharpness and detail in your newer photos, Gouldiae!
Herons are very graceful most of the time... except during a scratch maybe :D
    Cheers!

  3. Haven't we all got perfect botanical pics! Or photos of ripples in a pond where the bird was only half a second before.

Love the heron. A very handsome fellow.

  5. Lovely study of the WF Heron, Gouldiae.
Yes, I like trying to remember what it was I was trying to photograph, when the bird flies off.
    Cheers
