Yep, I’m still alive. The heat and hot northerly winds at the moment are not all that wonderful, but I think I’ve got the greens well prepared!
On Sunday just three of us toured some of the wetland areas around Sale – Lake Guyatt, Sale Common, Heart Morass, Marlay Point, and Lake Kakydra.

It wasn’t a stunning day for birds, but among some of the better ‘ticks’ were, Horsefield’s Bronze Cuckoo, White-winged Triller, Mistletoe Bird, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Latham’s Snipe, Greenshank, Clamorous Reed Warbler and Little Grassbird. It was good to be out and about again and in good company.

That looks like a pretty great list of 'ticks' for the day! - especially if those are only the better ones. I really like Gulls showing that plumage. Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteG'day Mick,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting.
I'm always pleasantly surprised at the variety of birds at Lake Guyatt, only a stone throw from the centre of Sale.

Hi Gouldiae!
ReplyDeleteGood to have you blogging again! Happy New Year!
Very nice sharp photo of the Pelican. I haven't seen these guys here for ages...

Nickolay
Welcome back. Thought you'd got lost at the 19th ;-)
ReplyDeleteG'day Nickolay and Tony,
ReplyDeleteYep, back into it a bit more regularly I hope.
Speaking of the 19th Tony, I might just crack one now. It's 1030 and I've just come in from putting the water on the tees after a stinking hot day. Started about 430 this morning, had a break through the heat of the day and got cracking again about 730 tonight. One stubbie might just slip down very nicely.
Regards,
Gouldiae
We have had two really hot, nasty days, but suddenly rain arrived late in the afternoon, and I am back to wearing a jumper - situation normal. Great.
ReplyDeleteHope you got some of the cool change, Gouldiae.
Cheers
Denis
G'day Denis,
ReplyDeleteYes it's been a bit more pleasant for two days now. No rain here, but it has been windy, which I dislike as much as the heat - dries the place out very quickly.

Gouldiae
